YouTube’s Merch Store to Offer Music, Concert Tickets, and Other Merchandise

michael12 years ago02 mins

The social media space is buzzing about the newest offering from YouTube.

Meet The Merch Store – a new platform through which musicians can sell digital downloads of their tunes, not to mention concert tickets or other personally-branded merchandise.

With 800 million people per month coming to YouTube, you have a pretty big stage to share your music, and now we’re adding features to also make YouTube your box office, merchandise table and music store.

The Merch Store’s goodies can even be accessed directly from an artist’s YouTube channel.

According to the formal announcement by Google’s hugely popular video-sharing platform, a number of key strategic relationships made The Merch Store possible. They include YouTube’s partnership with Topspin, Songkick, Amazon, and – arguably, the most important member of the team – iTunes, which feeds the music downloads for purchase.

“If you’d like to learn more,” writes Christian Weitenberner, Senior Technical Account Manager at YouTube in an official blog post, “we’re hosting a panel on Thursday October 20 @ Noon ET at the Mercury Lounge in NYC, sharing stories with artists who’ve found success on YouTube. The lineup includes Dru Ha and Buckshot from Duck Down Music, Julia Nunes, Karmin, Portugal, the Man and Ryan Leslie, and an RSVP is available at the YouTube Creator blog.”
