According to Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, Yahoo’s active monthly mobile user base now exceeds 350 million.
Yahoo even welcomes some 800 million monthly active users worldwide, which is a 20% jump since Mayer arrived at Yahoo a little more than one year ago.
“We’re really a personalization company,” Mayer stated at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference. “We want to give [users] more reason to come back on the site.”
All told, it’s been a fateful first year for Mayer. At the helm, Yahoo’s stock price has doubled and the company has made two dozen strategic acquisitions.
But, perhaps most of all, Mayer suggests that the company’s mobile-centric efforts have helped Yahoo grow the most.
“We’re looking at what daily habits are on the phone,” Mayer said, according to Forbes. “What Yahoo is good at–mail, news, etc.–are good on the phone.”
“We’re seeing a lot of additional usage on mobile,” she adds. “Also home page, Mail, search and other properties like news, sports, and finance. We’ve really seen people responding to the way we’ve been strengthening products.”
