Comcast is banking on Xfinity to a whole new degree.
The digital services juggernaut is pushing ahead with version 3.0 of its Xfinity Mobile app for your Apple iDevice of choice – iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
Xfinity Mobile 3.0 integrates with Comcast’s Xfinity TV app. What this means is that mobile users can gain remote access to to a wide assortment of new controls, features, and functions – including remote DVR programming and even On Demand library browsing.
“With the “My Account” feature, customers are now able to manage their Comcast account from any location. They can view their current account invoice, make a one-time payment or set up automatic payments. We hope this is a convenient feature that helps save time.”
Perhaps the biggest news from the update is a new service that, while not yet available, will soon add an entirely new dimension to the mobile Xfinity user: premium content streaming.
Comcast vice president of product management Raghu Rao says the forthcoming future of Xfinity Mobile will deliver streaming premium TV content. Rao would only say that such a service is “coming soon” and will be part of a slate of new offerings and updates on tap for next year.
“We’re excited about what we have in the pipeline for 2011,” says Rao, “and hope to surprise you.”
