WWE Tries to “Pin” Mobile’s Potential

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is getting deeper and deeper into the mobile marketing business. Apart from recently appointing Unanimis to handle its online and mobile ad sales accounts, there’s much more rumored to be in the works.

After their recent layoff of an estimated ten percent of the WWE workforce, the titans of professional wrestling are hoping that mobile marketing will be helpful in drawing in viewers who have lately been tuning out.

The upcoming WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will reportedly give fans a chance to learn via text message when the “major announcements” are made as to whom will be inducted into this year’s graduating class.

For those who don’t follow wrestling, the WWE annually inducts a handful of retired, legendary names into their Hall of Fame. This is the first time, however, that an online sign-up opportunity may be available for fans to get an advanced notification of who will be inducted.

Think of it as a blood sport version of President Obama’s text announcing Joe Biden as VP before anyone else knew about it.

How about that analogy?
