The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Yahoo’s marketing chief Kathy Savitt is leaving the prominent Internet company.
Savitt, who reportedly played an integral role at Yahoo, is departing to take an executive position at Hollywood studio STX Entertainment.
The move was confirmed by reps at both companies on Friday.
“We appreciate her contributions to Yahoo over the past three years and wish her well,” a Yahoo spokeswoman told the WSJ. “We have strong leaders in both Yahoo’s media and marketing organization who will continue to drive the business forward.”
As head of media, Ms. Savitt helped recruit star journalists including TV anchor Katie Couric and technology columnist David Pogue, and led an effort to generate more online videos and online magazines focused on topics of interest, such as tech, beauty and travel.
No word yet as to a replacement for Savitt at Yahoo.
