The Wall Street Journal is confirming that the iPad will be formally launched by Wal-Mart this Friday, October 15th.
Initially, however, not all Wal-Mart outlets will carry the Apple tablet.
Beginning this Friday, hundreds of select Wal-Marts will roll out the iPad, with the full scope of Wal-Mart stores (2,300 in all) stocking the device sometime in November.
The iPad will also be available for purchase online through Wal-Mart’s website, but the product will have to be picked up in store.
Beginning this weekend, the Wal-Mart locations that will carry the iPad will introduce all six models. Many shoppers around the US have already reported seeing the iPad promotional displays near other Apple products carried by the nation’s largest retail outlet.
Not having been released a full year yet, the iPad has already become a retail fixture at a variety of major retail outlets.
With the holiday shopping season upon us, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy will likely help to continue driving iPad sales to record highs amidst a marketplace that is still largely dominated by this lone device.
