On Friday, The Wall Street Journal learned that a fatal accident transpired inside of Apple’s Asian supply chain.
As of this afternoon, the latest news confirmed that one person at a Catcher Technology plant was killed in direct response to a gas leak.
Officials on the scene believe that hydrogen sulfide gas accidentally entered into the factory from a nearby liquid-waste treatment workshop in Suzhou, China.
A representative for the Suzhou Industrial Zone where the accident occurred said that of the four employees injured, three were in serious condition and one had been transferred out of intensive care.
Sadly, the very facility in which the deadly accident occurred had received a “black” rating, which is “the worst possible,” from the Suzhou Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau.
Apple is yet to officially comment on the accident and any pending investigation into the tragic event.
