The white iPhone 4 has experienced 10-month launch delay due to lingering production and manufacturing problems that stem back to the 4th generation Apple handset’s debut last summer.
But the wait may finally be over for Apple fans who’ve held out for the much-hyped white handset.
According to sources close to the situation who spoke with Reuters, suppliers to Apple “have begun production of white iPhones,” and suggest that the product will reach consumers within a month.
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd , flagship of Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology Group, would assemble the iPhone, one of the people said. They declined to be named because the information was not public.
In March, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Marketing Phil Schiller went on the record via Twitter to confirm that the iPhone 4 is, indeed, coming. According to Schiller, the white handset would become available “by spring,” a timetable consistent with the one presented by the latest sources to Reuters.
A spring release for the white iPhone 4, however, likely suggests that Apple will not introduce the iPhone 5 in the summer (per annual tradition). Myriad analysts have speculated that a fall introduction of the 5th generation iPhone is on tap for Apple, a scenario that a spring release of one version of last year’s iPhone 4 seems to validate.
