Which Brand Bested Google to Become ‘World’s Most Valuable Brand’?

Apple has topped Google in the race for the world’s most valuable brand.

Despite the utter beating Apple has endured on Wall Street since last fall, there are no scuff marks on Apple’s brand power.

Conquering fellow brand titans like Coca-Cola and McDonalds, Apple once again received top honors from BrandZ. And the results were published today by MarketingWeek.

This year’s BrandZ ranking of the top 100 valuable global brands sees Apple maintain its reign at number one and the value of the top brands grow by 7 per cent to $2.6 trillion.

The world’s top ten most valuable brands are:

  1. Apple
  2. Google
  3. IBM
  4. McDonalds
  5. Coca-Cola
  6. AT&T
  7. Microsoft
  8. Marlboro
  9. Visa
  10. China Mobile

“Its brand value only increased by 1 per cent this year,” BrandZ director Peter Walshe says of Apple, “but it still holds the record for the most valuable brand. And it leads by a long way. The next brand in the ranking, Google, is worth $113.7bn [reversing a 3 per cent decline last year to a 5 per cent gain] so Apple is $71.4bn ahead – nearly the value of Coca-Cola, which just shows how strong, powerful and meaningful that brand is.”
