According to U.K. consumers, Instagram is cooler than Twitter.
The CoolBrands top 20 has debuted for 2014 and it shows us that Apple is the coolest for the year that rapidly winds to a close. Instagram is new to the list, but Twitter — a veteran of the social scene and a familiar force on this list in the past — is in trouble. Not only was the microblogging giant beaten out by the likes of Instagram, it actually fell of the top twenty list entirely, according to MarketingWeek.
Apple, on the other hand, which unveiled two new flagship smartphones, iPads and a smartwatch in the last two months, retains its three-year crown as the coolest company.
Thirteen of the brands on the list are the same as last year, with seven new names in the bunch. According to Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of CoolBrands, brand stability and reputation are why so many previously ranked brands are back yet again.
In addition to Instagram, new to the list this year are Liberty, Selfridges, and Bose. Netflix also made its very first appearance, likely bolstered by the surge of new, popular streaming shows and original content rolled out in 2014.
The list is a product of the group’s survey among thousands of consumers and consultations with various “tastemakers.”
