WhatRunsWhere, a startup out of San Diego, is growing by leaps and bounds today – a reality that will only expand further with the company’s freshly announced acquisition of UK-based startup Mobile Ad Spy.

Terms of the deal were not publicly revealed.

If you’re unfamiliar, WhatRunsWhere allows ad agencies and advertisers to track competitors’ online ad campaigns. But it will now offer the same capabilities for the first time in the mobile market following the acquisition of Mobile Ad Spy.

By bringing in Mobile Ad Spy, the company asserts, WhatRunsWhere has solidified itself as the only company that covers both the web and mobile global competitive intelligence.

“Mobile Ad Spy’s technology will be merged into the WhatRunsWhere platform,” said Max Teitelbaum, chief operating officer of WhatRunsWhere. “Those media buyers that have been beta testing Mobile Ad Spy since May will be invited to continue their use of the marketing intelligence tool as it launches under the WhatRunsWhere brand,” Teitelbaum added.

“Anyone involved in online marketing can now see where their competitors’ ads are running on smartphones, tablets and other mobile media — and pinpoint exactly which individual ads are running on which apps, mobile sites and mobile ad networks,” Teitelbaum added. “Just as our clients have been doing with banner and text ad campaigns for the past year, WhatRunsWhere users – via the highly compatible Mobile Ad Spy technology — can now dissect competitors’ mobile advertising, resulting in reduced risk and higher ROI for their own campaigns.”

With the increase in mobile advertisement and marketing competition Mobile Ad Spy will provide a nice platform for mobile marketers to have information of where other firms are displaying applications and services over web and mobile platforms at a single place and allow them to analyses market trends with ease.
