This is one of the biggest rumors in tech and mobile social news today.

What will be Facebook’s next acquisition? If the rumor mill is right, Facebook may purchase Opera Software.

According to a report from Pocket Lint, Facebook may soon expand into the browser space to take on the likes of Google, Apple, Microsoft, Mozilla and Yahoo.

The move – which would no doubt send shivers of panic through Google – although unlikely to affect Chrome’s continued growth in the short term, would see the two tech giants battle it out on your desktop and mobile for web surfing as well as social networking.

As of this writing, Opera boasts of roughly 200 million users worldwide.

For Facebook, the rumored acquisition would certainly help underscore the company’s commitment to mobile at a time when investors almost universally fear the social network’s inability to monetize the platform.

What about Pickify? It would be easy to integrate and it is fun. Not sure how to describe it besides a way to poll your friends with images.
