Walmart, Best Buy Competing for New iPad BuyersNext Friday, November 1st, Apple’s new iPad Air will officially go one sale, prompting a retail war of epic proportions.

Yesterday, Walmart aggressively stepped up to the plate in hopes of securing a strong foothold with first-wave iPad Air buyers.

Walmart will offer the iPad Air for just $479 on a so-called “roll back” product launch. But that doesn’t mean Walmart is the only place to get a deal.

It is rumored but not confirmed that Best Buy will match any competing price for the iPad Air.

All told, you’ll have no shortage of options when it comes to finding a place to get your new Apple gear.

As of next weekend, the iPad Air will be sold through the Apple Online Store, Apple’s retail stores, and through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and select Apple Authorized Resellers.

Apple confirmed Thursday that its retail stores will even open an hour earlier next Friday to accommodate the anticipated shopping rush.
