Video Ads See Record Engagement From Online, Mobile Users

Proving that ambitious 2013 projections about mobile advertising may, in fact, come true, a new report shows that U.S. consumers spent 3.8 billion minutes streaming video advertising during the month of February.

According to comScore, consumers viewed 9.9 billion video ads last month. Not surprisingly, Google was a major driving force behind this reality as YouTube served an all-time high of 2.2 billion ads.

BrightRoll Video Network, meanwhile, came in second with 1.6 billion ads served in February, followed by Hulu with 1.4 billion.

Adap.tv cranked in 1.4 billion and LiveRail.com was responsible for 1 billion ads being delivered.

Incredibly, video ads reached more than 50% of the total U.S. population an average of 63 times during the month, comScore found. In total, that amounts to nearly 180 million Americans consuming 33 billion online content videos during the 28 days of February.
