Verizon iPhone Official, Available February 10th

According to Lowell MacAdam, president and chief operating officer of Verizon, “if the press writes something long enough and hard enough, it eventually becomes true.”

Following an introduction by McAdam, Tim Cook, Apple’s chief operating officer, took the stage at Rose Hall inside New York City’s Lincoln Center on Tuesday morning to formally announce the arrival of the iPhone on the Verizon network.

“We’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time,” Cook stated. “All of Apple is very, very excited to serve Verizon’s 93 million customers.”

On Feb. 3, existing Verizon customers will be able to preorder the iPhone 4 ahead of general availability. The Verizon iPhone will be available to all on February 10th.

“We had been talking to Verizon for a while,” Cook added. “This is just the beginning of a partnership with Verizon.”

According to Cook, Verizon employees will begin their formal iPhone training this week. Meanwhile, inventory and logical concerns are being handled in anticipation of the Verizon iPhone’s market introduction in 30 days.

Verizon Wireless will sell the iPhone under its existing wireless service plans, which include unlimited web surfing.
