And the year of acquisitions in the mobile space rolls on.
Today, uVuMobile, a mobility solutions and content aggregator, announced that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire WASP Mobile, LLC, a privately-held company that has developed its own suite of mobile marketing, mobile application and E-commerce solutions.
While details of the acquisition haven’t yet been announced, the transaction is expected to be final by the end of June. It should be noted, however, that the acquisition by uVuMobile will be in the form of company stock.
WASP Mobile’s SMS platform has been widely lauded for its ability to help clients launch marketing and billing campaigns from a breadth of prominent operators like Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint. Similarly, WASP Mobile’s application development platforms support operating systems for the iPhone, Android, and Windows Mobile.
“The joining of WASP with uVuMobile will put both companies in a strong position for market growth,” said Richard Seifert, President and CEO of uVuMobile. “There is tremendous demand for companies that can deliver mobile video and application services to the market and we intend to compete vigorously for market leadership in this space.”
According to a statement from uVuMobile, the acquisition will allow the new joint presence to offer media and marketing companies a ‘one-stop shop’ for development, marketing and distribution of mobile video applications and services.
