Twitter Still In Talks Regarding The Purchase Of Flipboard

Kevin Matthies8 years ago02 mins

Twitter Still In Talks Regarding The Purchase Of FlipboardTwitter is still a globally recognized social media powerhouse, but their ability to produce innovative new products and sources of revenue still has room for improvement. It is for this reason that sources close to Twitter have confirmed that the company is taking a close look at acquiring the personalized magazine Flipboard.

The rumors recently took on added momentum in response to coverage about the hotly speculated potential acquisition in re/code.

While the two companies are already partners in a few different professional capacities, officially joining forces could open the door for an unlimited amount of new possibilities. In fact, Flipboard entrepreneur Mike McCue was once a Twitter board member—who stepped down due to the conflict of interest between the two companies.

While talks are still underway, Flipboard is struggling a bit to capture new growth. While Flipboard reported 100 million “activated” users in 2014—consistent use still has room for improvement. That being said, sometimes partnerships can take things to the next level—just as when Facebook acquired Instagram.
