Twitter May Challenge Facebook with Dedicated Direct Messaging App

michael9 years ago01 mins

Twitter May Challenge Facebook with Dedicated Direct Messaging AppTwitter is looking to take its direct messaging capability to a new level, sources close to the microblogging behemoth say.

As we know, Twitter recently updated its platform so that users can choose to be direct messaged by not only people that they’re following, but also by people that are following them.

Additionally AllThingsD reports that Twitter similarly be looking into the possibility of a dedicated application for its direct messaging feature.

Sound familiar? It is. This new functionality would be strikingly similar to Facebook’s dedicated Messenger application, in which the user can message their Facebook friends.

In this situation, however, direct communication would be possible with the user’s Twitter followers or people they follow.

For now, Twitter won’t officially confirm or deny its plans in the direct messaging space.
