Consistent with rumors that have persisted across the blogosphere for some time now, Twitter has just officially released a new – and free – music application in the Apple App Store.
The Twitter #music app allows users to be more social with the music they’re interested in and/or listening to via an iOS device
“A fresh approach to finding new music by using Tweets and follows to power discovery,” Twitter says, describing the freshly launched app. “Follow your favorite artists and see which artists they follow.”
Twitter invites users to listen now via iTunes, Rdio, or Spotify.
Thanks to the Twitter charts feature, music fans can even keep tabs on the most popular artists and music to date.
With an attractive and fluid interface that makes perusing favorite music a comfortable experience, it looks like Twitter has produced a powerful new application for music discovery.
