Just because Twitter is one of the biggest social networks accessed chiefly through smartphones doesn’t mean that feature phone owners should be denied access to the microblogging platform.

For this reason, Twitter has raised the curtain on a new native application build specifically for Nokia’s line of Series 40 feature phones. Twitter says the user experience will be remarkably similar to the app experience delivered by Twitter’s smartphone presence.

This new app brings most of the features you’d expect to see from a Twitter client on a smartphone to hundreds of millions of feature phones around the world.

“With Twitter for Nokia you can post your own Tweets and follow others’ Tweets,” Nokia touts on its Conversations blog today. “There’s also the @Connect feature to see your mentions and new followers and you can browse the most interesting Tweets from around the world using the #Discover feature.”

Twitter for Nokia is now officially available for download and will come pre-installed on all new Series 40 phones.
