Twitter Confirms Imminent Closure of TweetDeck

michael10 years ago02 mins

Hasta la vista, TweetDeck.

Twitter has confirmed plans to formally terminate TweetDeck for iOS, Android, and Adobe Air with an effective closure date now set for May 7th.

Plans for TweetDeck’s discontinuance have been known since March but an official end date wasn’t publicly set… until now.

“To continue to offer a great product that addresses your unique needs, we’re going to focus our development efforts on our modern, web-based versions of TweetDeck,” Twitter says on the TweetDeck blog.

The apps will be removed from their respective app stores and will stop functioning on May 7th. Same goes for Facebook integration.

Over the past 18 months, we’ve been focused on building a fast and feature-rich web application for modern browsers, and a Chrome app, which offers some unique features like notifications.

“From the whole TweetDeck team,” the post concludes, “we’re excited about what the future holds. We hope you are too.”

Are you disappointed to see TweetDeck go?
