Keek, the mobile video social network known for its out-of-the-mainstream 36-second video format, is onto something new.
The news isn’t trivial. Or, actually — it is.
Keek says it will develop and launch Keek Social Trivia (“KST”), an innovative new platform created to help monetize Keek’s existing user base.
“KST is designed to be a global, skill-based, trivia contest played twice a month by Keek registered participants with a minimum guaranteed first prize of one million dollars,” according to a statement provided to MMW. “The prize dollars will be funded by advertising sponsorship and will increase as more participants and sponsors register.”
MAW will get you in a trivia state of mind. Best to start preparing now, Keek fans. Here’s a question for today: Pinatas of a certain celebrity are now popular in Mexico – who is it?*
There’s a dip for charity, too — about 10 percent of all prize dollars will be designated for international charities that have partnered with KST. Trivia contest winners will also have the option to direct a portion of the charitable proceeds to a charity of their choice.
Though the timetable is still in flux, Keek is aiming for a fall launch.
“KST represents a significant new opportunity for us to activate our vast user base, and deepen Keek’s already immersive user experience,” said Dimi Paun, Interim CEO of Keek. “This project makes sense on many levels, particularly with the continued growth of online gaming, mobile advertising and social media. Keek Social Trivia is expected to generate significant advertising revenue for Keek while providing an engaging forum for all of our users.”
Could trivia help marketers break through the clutter, all by dint of trivia and trifles? Paun believes so.
“The launch of Keek Social Trivia offers Keek a ground breaking approach to ensuring global brands deliver key messages to targeted demographic audiences in a unique measurable manner via our platform,” he said.
