The 5 Highest Paid Tech Executives

The 5 Highest Paid Tech ExecutivesIt’s no secret that the tech industry is one of the fastest growing and most lucrative sectors. So it’s no wonder that when the New York Times compiled a list of the 200 most highly paid executives of any industry, twenty-eight of them were executives from tech companies.

So who made the cut?

Here are the five tech company executives with the highest salaries.

Marissa Mayer of Yahoo makes $36.6 million, less than one percent of that being her actual salary. The great majority of it comes from stocks and bonuses.

Paul Ricci of Nuance Communications made $37.1 million last year, over ten million more dollars than he made in 2011. Like Mayer, the majority of his money comes from stocks, though his $700,000 salary isn’t bad, either.

James Crowe of Level 3 Communications makes about $50 million. While his salary is well over a million dollars, his real haul comes from bonuses, stocks, and options.

Robert Kotick, the head of Activision Blizzard puts Crow to shame at $64.9 million in 2012, though he only made $8.3 million in 2011. With only a two million dollar salary and seven million dollars in bonuses, his $55 million dollar stock holdings make up the largest chunk of his compensation.

Larry Ellison of Oracle made $96.2 million in 2012, up from $77.6 million the previous year. And while he famously takes a one dollar salary, his four million in bonuses and perks is augmented by over $90.5 million in options.
