Taylor Swifts Picks up Kenny Chesney’s Lead

The other day I mentioned country music superstar Kenny Chesney’s unprecedented success in mobile marketing across a vast spectrum of career aspects in which the mobile channel has helped him. I alluded to the certainty that more country artists would soon follow Mr. Chesney’s lead.

Today, we can confirm another big name appearing soon on your mobile phone.

Verizon Wireless is teaming with recording star Taylor Swift to “offer subscribers a series of content exclusives tied to the singer’s first headline tour of the U.S., taking place now through Oct. 10.”

The biggest draw of the deal, however, is that Swift will record “three exclusive tracks on the Verizon Mobile Recording Studio Bus,” available for over-the-air download via the operator’s V Cast Music with Rhapsody service.

Verizon (again, following Kenny Chesney’s lead) will offer a text-to-win contest so that many subscribers can have a chance to win tickets to see Swift performing live in concert and not just on their phone.

In case you’re wondering, winners will even receive “bar-coded mobile tickets transmitted directly to their handsets, complete with priority access to the show through a VIP Mobile ticketing entrance.”

Ready for the cool part?

Concert attendees will also have the opportunity “to sing a virtual duet with Swift thanks to green-screen technology.” Verizon will subsequently send video clips back to handset in order for sharing among friends.

Move over Kenny Chesney.
