With Apple Watch set for release in one month, some of the world’s leading time piece makers are getting nervous — very nervous about a potential mass exodus of customers who now want their watches to be “smart.”
For that reason, TAG Heuer is ready to up its game and get into the smartwatch business.
According to Bloomberg, the Swiss watch-maker, is set to produce a new smartwatch with some top tech helpers.
We’re told Google and Intel — two top Apple rivals — will help Tag Heuer pull off its inaugural smartwatch.
“The watch is an attempt to compete with devices by consumer-electronics makers, particularly the much-hyped watch by Apple,” the report explains. “While TAG is the first traditional watchmaker to pair with Google, the partnership could open the door to other collaborations with high-end brands owned by LVMH, including Hublot and Zenith.”
No word yet on when the smartwatch in question will launch. But it’s coming.
