According to the latest report from ABI Research, the third generation Apple iPad is truly a juggernaut in the tablet space.
On Monday, ABI’s freshly published data showed that two out of every three tablets shipped globally today are iPads.
Of the 18.2 million tablets shipped during 1Q of 2012, Apple’s iPad accounted for 11.8 million of them, all while Samsung shipments faltered and Amazon’s Kindle Fire shipments “fizzled entering 2012.”
“A pattern similar to smartphones is also occurring in tablets,” says Jeff Orr, group director of consumer research at ABI. “Apple and Samsung have demonstrated staying power while other tablet vendors ebb and flow like the tide.”
