SXSW Unveils New Grant Program to Come in 2016

SXSW Unveils New Grant Program to Come in 2016South by Southwest has just announced what it calls the SXSW Community Grant Fund.

The Fund in question is deigned to award “five deserving U.S.-based charities with a $10,000 project or program grant, beginning in 2016.”

Those behind the annual festival and the new fund say the grant reinforces SXSW’s focus on community and the belief that promoting good in local communities helps foster creative innovation.

To that end, the Community Grant Fund will recognize solutions to local community issues, especially when they can improve the lives of the underprivileged or disenfranchised, as they relate to one of the following events in the SXSW family: Interactive, Film, Music, Edu, Eco or V2V.

“Community is at the heart of SXSW and we are honored to further equip those nonprofits that inspire innovation and creativity in the communities they serve every day,” says Hugh Forrest, Director of SXSW Interactive. “We know making a difference locally is the first step to improving lives and strengthening communities globally.”
