SXSW Tragedy Unites Austin Community

SXSW Tragedy Unites Austin CommunityThe Austin Community Foundation has set up the SXSW Cares Fund for the families and victims of the accident that occurred during SXSW on March 12th on Red River street in Austin, Texas.

The Fund plans to accept donations to support those impacted by this week’s tragedy.

SXSW has always been about bringing together a community of creative minds to support and further innovative pursuits. As a community, we take care of our own; we always have. In light of last night’s tragic drunk driving incident, it’s time to come together in that same spirit to support those who were affected.

For that reason, DropShades, Jukz Shoes, Henge Docks, and a variety of other brands are working together to send money to the Austin Community Foundation’s SXSW CARES fund to raise funds for this very purpose.

“The indicated brands will be donating a portion of each purchase made through Sunday using the code “sxswrelief” directly to the Austin Community Foundation to cover costs accrued by those affected by the incident,” a formal announcement of this effort reads.

“This is the time for all of us to step up and take care of each other,” said DropShades co-founder Harrison Herndon.
