With Apple’s product line becoming more popular and pervasive than ever in the enterprise arena, news of Apple’s most recent retail partnership is a no-brainer.
According to published reports late Thursday, Apple has reached a new product distribution agreement with Staples.
For some time now, Staples has been selling a variety of Apple products and accessories – including the Apple TV and iPad Smart Covers. But beginning next month, we’re told that the office supply chain will also sell iPads and iPods online.
For now, sales of the Apple devices will be limited to Staples’ online website. But there’s already chatter suggesting that if all goes well, brick-and-mortar availability of the Apple devices at Staples could be a reality in early 2014.
“Apple will be watching how many iPads and iPods each store refers to its online site during the holiday season, and, perhaps, in 2013, Staples retail stores will be allowed to stock the devices,” says Julie Bort of Business Insider.
