Square Throws In The Towel For Square WalletFacing intense competition across the mobile landscape from fast-growing mobile payments service providers like PayAnywhere and GoPayment, Square is admitting failure with its latest move.

When Square launched Square Wallet, the company had high hopes for being the leaders in the world of mobile payment processing. However, Wallet did not take off as planned. Even after partnering with globally recognized Starbucks, Wallet fell flat.

While Square has decided to move on from Wallet, they have adopted a more relevant payment processing solution dubbed Square Order. Square Order is an app that participating restaurants and retailers can utilize for mobile payment processing. So far Square Order is only available in select locations throughout New York and San Francisco but the goal is to go nationwide.

Of course, that’s just the goal. Will Square find success or falter once again? Only time will tell.
