With all the hype surrounding the iPhone’s likely arrival on the Sprint network in the US, many have failed to acknowledge another famous Apple product that may simultaneously turn up in the Sprint family – the iPad.
According to published reports Tuesday, Sprint will, indeed, begin selling the iPhone 4 in October. Sprint will all but certainly carry the iPhone 5 too, but perhaps not immediately upon its release.
TUAW’s Erica Sadun says Sprint Nextel sales associates are now actively getting briefed on the looming arrival.
The associate also suggested that Sprint will carry a 4G iPad, though launch dates and pricing were still unknown. Of course, Sprint already sells 4G access for the iPad via its external mobile 4G WiFi product.
If the associate’s information is accurate, Sprint will not get the iPhone 5 until 2012, most likely by early spring. The sales briefing report aligns with Bloomberg’s story about the potential arrival on Sprint of both the 4 and 5 models, and with the WSJ reporting on the phone’s roll-out schedule.
For the time being, Sprint remains hush-hush about this worst kept secret in all of mobile.
As MMW reported earlier this week, Sprint is looking to distinguish itself from its US competitors (AT&T and Verizon) by offering its base of 50+ million subscribers an unlimited data plan for the revolutionary Apple smartphone.
