Sprint Confirms Creation of Mobile Bill Payment App for Boost Mobile

Capping a busy morning for mobile payments news, on Tuesday, PreCash, a payments and transaction processing company, today announced a new partnership with Sprint Prepaid Group to develop a mobile bill payment app for Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA customers.

Underscoring a commitment to the convenience afforded by mobile payments, the app in question will enable these no-contract customers to make utility bill payments and to pay hundreds of other bills “for the most popular and common services” directly from their cell phones.

The scope of the platform reaches far beyond utility bill payments. The partners say that customers will also be able to pay bills for cable, insurance, residential phone service and other well-known national, regional and local service providers.

The app will work with both Visa or MasterCard credit and debit cards.

“PreCash has been processing bill payments for wireless carriers and other billers for more than ten years, and we are excited about this opportunity to expand our relationship with Sprint to help the no-contract brands penetrate the emerging mobile wallet market,” says Steve Taylor, CEO, PreCash. “This relationship is a milestone for PreCash and underpins our strategy to leverage our bill payment processing technology and experience in the wireless industry to help companies deliver to their customers a complete mobile financial experience.”

As illustrated yet again by this latest development, the growing emphasis on resolving “common bills” is clearly the newest trend in mobile payments.
