I’ve always been intrigued and compelled by companies and their first mobile marketing campaigns. Why? Because the initial public response (not to mention subsequent revisions made through trial and error) can provide vital lessons and examples to other rookie or prospective mobile markers.
This morning, Simply Wireless announced a partnership with 2ergo, a highly regarded mobile marketing products company, to create integrated SMS campaigns and mobile Internet sites for the wireless retailer.
With the goal to better communicate with and retain new and existing customers, Simply Wireless is planning to capitalize on the mobile Internet as a marketing tool. According to a statement from the company, Simply Wireless is licensing two of 2ergo’s “self-service products” to facilitate its mobile marketing endeavors – Via and Swift. Via will enable Simply Wireless to swiftly establish targeted SMS campaigns, and Swift gives the company the capability to effortlessly create mobile Web pages in support of its marketing initiatives. As one would imagine, both products “provide extensive tracking and reporting capabilities.”
Just over ten years old, Simply Wireless has emerged in recent years as a leading national provider of wireless technology for consumers and businesses. Presently, they offer Alltel, Cellular One, Sprint, Suncom and T-Mobile as carrier choices.
As another wireless retailer taking the plunge into mobile marketing, it will be interesting to watch if and how their inaugural campaign will resemble or differ from previous mobile campaigns from competing wireless retailers. One way or another, something will be learned in the process – both by Simply Wireless and aspiring mobile marketers alike.
