In a move that was largely unexpected today, Tapjoy President and CEO Mihir Shah is out at the mobile advertising and monetization company.
Shah, we’re told, resigned from his position as was not forced out.
Regardless of how the exodus happened or what truly inspired it, the opening has meant a huge opportunity for a top former Disney executive to assume control of the company.
Walt Disney veteran Steve Wadsworth has been tapped for Tapjoy’s chief executive position – a job he’s well suited for given his background as Disney’s Interactive Media President.
“Tapjoy sits in the epicenter of an incredibly exciting growth industry and is very well positioned to take advantage of future growth,” said Mark Leschly, Chairman of Tapjoy’s Board of Directors. “Tapjoy has scaled dramatically over the past two years, and we are very excited and fortunate to have someone with Steve’s management credentials and deep technology and entertainment industry expertise to lead Tapjoy through our next phase of growth.”
“The Board,” Leschly’s note concluded, “would also like to acknowledge Mihir’s contributions to the firm during his tenure as CEO and thank him for helping the company transition from its start-up phase to a market leading growth company.”
