Scholastic Media Goes Mobile for Interactive Education

In yet another illustrative example of the mobile platform’s influence on contemporary education, this week Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic Inc., the global children’s publishing, education and media company, announced the introduction of its “Touch & Tilt” line of iPad book applications on the iTunes App Store.

The acceptance of digital readers and tablet computers have not only profoundly impacted how traditional media is absorbed among the adult population, it has also dramatically influenced everything from children’s entertainment to educational tools.

Following the lead of the other established children’s publishing houses and producers of school-age education materials, Scholastic Media has released three applications that moms and dads will soon be downloading to their iPads: “I Love You Through and Through,” “The Magic School Bus,” and “Go , Clifford, Go!”

“Scholastic Media has a long tradition of developing quality media experiences based on its beloved books and brands – and the new Touch & Tilt book apps are no exception,” said Daisy Kline, VP of marketing and brand management at Scholastic Media. “Our goal is always to leverage the unique technological capabilities of the platform – in this case the iPad – to bring the books to life in ways that are meaningful to the child and true to the original story.”
