Sapient Soon To Be Acquired By French Based Publicis Groupe

Sapient Soon To Be Acquired By French Based Publicis GroupeIn a recent announcement, French-based advertising powerhouse Publicis Groupe shared their plans to acquire Boston-based marketing and consulting firm Sapient for an impressive $3.7 billion in cash.

The goal of the acquisition is to create a company that will be direct competition for the likes of Facebook, Yahoo, and Google. The union of these respected companies will result in a platform that focuses “exclusively on digital transformation and the dynamics of an always-on world across marketing, omni-channel commerce, consulting and technology.”

By joining forces, the two will likely be able to achieve this goal much faster than going it solo.

Sapient, says Maurice Lévy, chairman and chief executive of Publicis, is “a one-of-a-kind company born in the technology space with strengths in marketing, communications, consulting and omni-channel commerce.”

Given that Publicis reportedly pulls in close to 40 percent of its revenue from its digital operations, it’s clear why the resources at Sapient appear so attractive.
