Samsung Tablets to Make Presidential Debates More ‘Interactive’

With the first presidential debate just 24 hours away, the masses are gearing up to enjoy the political process in an entirely new way.

On Monday, Peel and Samsung Electronics announced that owners of Samsung GALAXY devices preloaded with the Peel Smart Remote TV app can provide real-time user generated feedback during the upcoming presidential debates between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney.

As the candidates take center stage on live TV beginning on Oct. 3, viewers using the Peel Smart Remote app on the Samsung GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus, Tab 7.7, Tab 2 7.0, Tab 2 10.1 or Note 10.1 with built-in IR blaster will able to use the Peel Smart Remote TV App to easily switch the TV channel to any of the available stations showing the debate.

Based on the details announced, during the course of the debate, users will be able to “cheer” and “boo” candidate responses to voice their support for or against. Immediately following each presidential or vice presidential debate, Peel will be the “first to provide a broad range of sentiment from thousands of viewers based on the in-app feedback.”

“Samsung is focused on bringing new and exciting experiences to consumers so we are excited to be Peel’s exclusive partner in this innovative endeavor,” said Travis Merrill, director of product marketing at Samsung. “With Samsung GALAXY tablets and Peel’s Smart Remote app, viewers can seamlessly manage any home entertainment system, easily discover content and share with friends through a personalized, intuitive app. It gives consumers a new and personal way to be a part of special event programming.”
