Samsung Ready to Roll Out Mobile Payment Service

Samsung Ready to Roll Out Mobile Payment ServiceConsumer electronics giant Samsung is ready to combat Apple head-on in the fast-growing mobile payments market.

Ahead of the weekend, the South Korean tech behemoth said that Samsung Pay, “a secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service that can be used to make purchases nearly everywhere cards are accepted,” will launch this week in Korea and next month in several new global markets, including the U.S.

On September 28, Samsung will launch the service in the U.K., Spain and China.

Samsung boss JK Shin referenced the pending launch of Samsung Pay last week when introducing the company’s refreshed line of mobile devices.

“With the launches of these exciting new smartphones,” Shin said, “we will open a new era of mobile payment. This is Samsung’s brave step forward to enhance our mobile experience. It is easy, safe, and most importantly, available virtually anywhere you can swipe a card, in most cases without new costs for merchants, from day one.”
