What’s true in sports is also true in mobile technology. Just ask Samsung. These days, the South Korea-based tech giant is getting spanked by Apple… in South Korea.

According to freshly published industry data, iPhone 6 sales are demolishing sales of Samsung’s latest smartphone offering.

If the data is correct, presales for the Galaxy Note 4 are selling at half the rate of new iPhones in South Korea.

On Friday, the country’s three mobile carriers began taking orders for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. In less than an hour, the carriers reported that orders had reached tens of thousands, outpacing the rate reported for Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy Note 4 model at its launch here in September.

The report notes that KT Corp. logged 10,000 orders of the new iPhone 6 models in one minute (50,000 orders within 30 minutes).

“With Apple piggybacking on Samsung’s large-screen strategy, there are concerns that Samsung will lose its only advantage, which has been its large screen sizes,” Lee Seung-woo, an analyst with IBK Securities in Seoul, tells the WSJ.
