Will Samsung beat Apple to the punch by unveiling an Android-powered connected HDTV next week at CES 2013?
That’s the rumor, although Samsung has given us reason to believe that the rumor may be drastically inflated, specifically by already telling us a few things about why it’s forthcoming release may be simpler than some expect.
While rumors abound that Apple will enter the connected TV fray next year, Samsung is definitely rolling out something special next week when CES gets underway.
Samsung is hyping a new HDTV that is “unprecedented.”
The electronics juggernaut is promising a “true innovation of TV design” which would come from a Samsung-branded television delivering “an unprecedented new TV shape and timeless gallery design.”
What we think that means, however, is that the TV may function in either “portrait” or “landscape” positions.
As of this writing, there are no credible shreds of evidence that the TV will be Android-powered or even be connected in the sense that mobile users have come to expect. Nonetheless, Samsung is turning heads with its rumored forthcoming product. And there’s a good chance the tech giant will have a massive hit on its hands.
