Rumor: iPhone 6 Production to Begin Next Month

Rumor iPhone 6 Production to Begin Next MonthIn only four weeks, production of Apple’s next generation iPhone 6 will commence. At least, that’s the scuttlebutt around Apple’s Asian supply and manufacturing chains.

Reuters was first to report that industry insiders have verified that screens for the new flagship Apple smartphone will enter production in early May.

So what’s on tap for the new iPhone? Speculation persists that the iPhone 6 will deliver a 4.7-inch screen but a 5.5-inch screen option may follow before the holiday shopping season gets underway.

Either option represents a size increase over the 4.0-inch panels found on the current generation iPhone 5S and 5C models.

Both iPhone 6 screens are expected to use in-cell touch panel technology – built into the screen and allowing for thinner construction than with standard touch panel films – that was introduced with the iPhone 5, the sources said.

Japan Display will likely be the first manufacturer to commence production at its Mobara plant next month.
