Rumor: Google To Serve ‘Key Lime Pie’ October 29th

The hottest rumor in mobile Thursday is talk of Google rolling out the next major version of Android – Key Lime Pie.

This morning, Google began sending out press invitations that read “The playground is open.” The reference to a “playground” is probably a clue that Google’s Play store will take center stage in some capacity during the event.

The event is scheduled for Monday, October 29th in New York City.

The rumor mill suggests that Google will also use the occasion to raise the curtain on a new Nexus-branded smartphone.

All told, it’s going to be a busy late October for the mobile world. In addition to Apple’s October 23 event, October 29th also marks the same day that Microsoft will launch its long-awaited Windows Phone 8 platform.

For now, all three tech titans won’t divulge many details. But the “big three” are expected to exert profound influence on the mobile landscape with their respective announcements.
