Apple’s 6th generation iPhone is, unquestionably, the most eagerly anticipated smartphone release of the coming months.

And the device may already be in production.

On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the next iPhone is now on the assembly lines of Asia. Further evidence to back up this report came early Wednesday morning outside of the Foxconn plant in Chengdu, China.

Foxconn, one of Apple’s biggest Asia-based manufacturing partners, has been bombarded with thousands of prospective job seekers. As it turns out, Foxconn is looking to massively expand its workforce – even if just temporarily – for the rumored reason that iPhone production will soon put an enormous strain on already over-burdened workers.

According to Chinese tech news site M.I.C. Gadget:

Heavy rains have battered Chengdu over the past few days, but this won’t stop young jobseekers lining up for Foxconn summer jobs at the Foxconn plant in Chengdu. Thousands of people were lining up, and they were armed with rain gear and umbrellas, standing out in the rain just for a chance to audition. More photos after the break.

Most mobile industry analysts and market watchers believe that the 6th generation iPhone will deliver a bigger screen, 4G LTE capability, and NFC technology when it debuts in or around October of this year.

I wonder if we will get a sneak peek of the iPhone6 courtesy of a misplaced prototype like the iPhone5?

    Michael,

I saw this news on TV and online last night. As you've probably read, there are all sorts of assumptions as to what the new iPhone 6 is going to feature, and how much thin it is going to be compared to its predecessor. I was unaware that Foxconn was having a shortage of workers to meet the production demands of the iPhone 6, but I am sure Apple will make things happen. Are you going to buy this new version? I will most likely get one.
