Retailers Say Mobile Commerce Has Never Been More ImportantAccording to the findings from a new survey by Internet Retailer, 78.8% of retailers polled now view mobile commerce as “very important.”

Just 58.8% said the same one year ago.

The results of the new survey suggest that “mobile commerce is becoming a bigger part of the business for many retailers as they become more adept and experienced at marketing and selling to consumers who are using smartphones and tablets.”

Sales that originate from smartphones and tablets routinely account for 10% or more of all revenue for large  retailers.

“We didn’t expect it to be that much by now,” Chris Johnson, vice president and chief information officer of Pegasus confirms with regard to his own company’s mobile commerce success.

Across the board, retailers that participated in the survey admit that greater percentages of their mobile traffic came from consumers using iOS devices.
