Report: The State of Mobile Advertising is Strong

Report The State of Mobile Advertising is StrongThis week, the team at Opera Mediaworks briefed Mobile Marketing Watch on its latest State of Mobile Advertising report. And based on the data presented, the state has never been more vibrant.

“2013 was a tremendous year for mobile advertising,” reveals Opera Mediaworks chief executive Mahi de Silva. “Many publishers found their smartphone and tablet traffic eclipse their desktop internet traffic, and some even made more money from mobile advertising when compared to desktop.”

Three key highlights from the new report include:

  1. In the smartphone OS race, Android is now the leader over iPhone. Within the quickly-growing tablet market, Apple still maintains a significant lead, but Android is staking its claim, and tablet impressions are on the rise.
  2. The 2013 holiday season further confirmed the massive shift toward smartphones and foreshadows an acceleration in global adoption of advanced devices.
  3. Also during the holiday season, Entertainment advertisers utilized mobile more than any other advertiser. More than a third of all ads seen by consumers were for music, movies and entertainment events.
