This will be the last holiday shopping season for a while where an HDTV isn’t the most sought after gift across the board.
According to a new report from Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, the 2013 holiday shopping season will be dominated by Apple – specifically, it’s long awaited HDTV.
On Tuesday, Munster issued a note to investors in which he once again estimated that Apple will dominate the 2013 holiday shopping season. But this time it will be with a $1,500 to $2,000 Apple HDTV, likely available in sizes ranging from 42 to 55 inches.
“We expect the beauty of the design to be a feature, but the most important feature will be the ability to use the TV as the main interface for the living room across multiple devices,” Munster said Tuesday, according to Barron’s. “We believe the TV will include Siri and FaceTime. The biggest item unlikely to come with the TV will be unbundled channels.”
Munster thinks the early part of the year will bring a rumored Apple radio service, an updated iPad mini with the “retina display” screen found on the higher-end iPad, and perhaps a new version of Apple’s “Apple TV” set-top box that may offer access to software programs in Apple’s “App Store.”
