Prominent Apple Executive Scott Forstall Forced Out

One of the biggest names at Apple is reportedly being forced out of his position.

According to the inside track from the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s iOS chief Scott Forstall is being forced from his position. Having grown exceptionally close to Steve Jobs in the years before his passing, some at Apple allegedly believe that Forstall has grown aloof, arrogant, and difficult to work with.

In particular, the WSJ reports that Forstall was asked to leave after he refused to sign a letter of apology relating to the embarrassing Apple Maps fiasco.

Mr. Forstall’s departure came after mounting tension with members of Apple’s executive ranks. For years, senior executives had complained that he wasn’t cooperative and showed off his close relationship with Mr. Jobs.

Current plans call for Forstall to be replaced by Craig Federghi next year, with a combination of Jonathan Ives and several other Apple executives absorbing his responsibilities for the interim.

So… will Forstall’s controversial departure negatively impact Apple’s iOS momentum or cultivation in the short term? Please weigh in with a thought or comment below.
