Mobile local search app Poynt indicated today that it’s surpassed the milestone of processing one billion plus interactions, while adding an average 30,000 new users per day during the month of February.
Poynt is an app that’s tailored to connect consumers to local businesses, events, restaurants, movie theaters, gas prices and weather information among other things. In addition to providing basic information, the app also includes interactive capabilities allowing users to do things like view movie trailers and reviews, buy movie tickets, click-to-call businesses, get directions, browse listing websites and read reviews and book dining reservations.
The quick growth in usage of the Poynt app and many others like it highlight the massive overall growth in mobile local search and LBS apps in general. Poynt alone said it’s surpassed 6.4 million unique users and is now available on all major mobile platforms — including Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows Phone 7. The app can also be accessed via the mobile Web at m.poynt.com.
