Phablets are big. Very big. And we’re not just talking about the screen size of these ultra-popular mobile devices.
Phablets were such a hot item for the 2014 holiday season that according to data generated by Flurry and highlighted this week by eMarketer, mobile app usage via these devices grew an impressive 150% from January 2014 to January 2015.
Phablets are mobile devices that are between 5 to 6.7 inches long, compared to that of small or full-sized tablets that are between 7 to 9 inches long. This includes the likes of the iPhone 6 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
What makes Phablets so appealing is that they eliminate the need to carry both a smartphone and a notebook. They are easier to browse the Internet, check and respond to email, and even perform work on than a standard smartphone (yet they are not as cumbersome as a notebook).
In fact, the popularity of such devices is growing so rapidly that tablet growth is starting to slow down as consumers are opting for this dual function mobile device.
