Monday brought with it the debut of PayPal’s credit card reader at nearly 2,000 AT&T Mobility stores in the United States.
PayPal Here sells for $15, but buyers get all $15 back when they sign up for a free account.
The deal with AT&T represents PayPal’s first U.S. retail deal.
PayPal Here is a pocket-sized fully encrypted credit card reader. Download the free app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, apply for an account and you can support any form of payment on your smartphone wherever you are, even on the go.
Despite having only gone on sale last year, Square is now widely available at more than 20,000 retail outlets nationwide, including Apple, Wal-mart, Best Buy, Walgreens, Staples, FedEx Office, RadioShack, and Target.
All told, this latest retail growth wave for PayPal is just the beginning of new efforts to improve upon the platform and its associated services.
